Resources and Questions

Why do people choose nude recreation?
Relaxation, stress relief, positive body image, and increasing self-esteem - there are
many reasons for choosing nude recreation. At Avatan you'll meet a wide variety
of people, diverse in age and profession.

Is nude recreation becoming more accepted?
The Roper Organization reported that 40 million Americans have skinny-dipped in
mixed company. For people who want to recapture the freedom and innocence of
that experience, Avatan offers a relaxing, down-to-earth, casual environment.

What are the characteristics of Avatan?
The atmosphere of Avatan is wholesome and friendly. People enjoy everyday
recreation activities such as swimming, walking, cycling, and volleyball. You will find it
similar to a small town community campground, without the clothes (or stress).

How will we feel on the first visit to Avatan?
At Avatan you will find friendly people of all ages enjoying nude recreation in a secure
atmosphere. You are accepted for who you are inside, not how you look on the outside.
People who enjoy nude recreation develop a healthy body image which builds
self-esteem. You may participate in social activities, or just relax around the pool
until you feel comfortable.

We are new to nudism, how do I arrange a visit for the fist time?
You will receive an
confidential visitors application, or download it here. After your
returned application is processed  you will receive an invitation to visit. You can e-mail us at
trynude@avatan.com

Are the grounds kept secure?
Avatan controls who can enter the campground.  If anyone is there for the wrong reason
or cannot follow the club's Rules, they will face disciplinary action including removal
from the club and grounds. This may include notification to AANR which will forward the notification
to other AANR clubs in the US.

My spouse or significant other does not wish to visit, may I still visit?
No, if you are part of a couple, both people must attend. There are no exceptions.

I am a male, do I have to worry about erections?
Not really. Avatan is not a sexual place, so erections at nudist facilities, are extremely rare.
Most male nudists have never had any problems.

Are children allowed?
Yes. Since Avatan is a family club, it's strength is families. In fact Avatan is the best nudist
campground in Minnesota for kids! You can decide to start out by not bringing your kids, or bring
them along on your first visits. During summer weekends there is usually plenty of other kids of all
ages, that they can get to know. Most often it's in the pool, playing video games or during the
activities.

How does Avatan handle member privacy?
First names and last initials are used. Couples are identified by first names, and spouse.
The only people to know full names and addresses are Avatan Board of Directors and are
used only for bookkeeping purposes.

How many members does Avatan have?
Currently we have 344 members. Avatan has the largest membership of any Minnesota nudist club.

Why is there a limit on single males?
The limit is 20% of total membership for singles, 10% for each gender. Usually all available male slots
are filled.

Can we reserve our rentals, camping site or pay for grounds fees with credit cards?
Yes. For your convenience, Avatan accepts Mastercard and Visa. We also accept checks and cash.
